Often people tend to feel warmer after consuming alcohols, but in reality, the fact differs from the adopted belief to a great extent. Upon the intake of alcohols, our body gets warmer — is a false notion. When an individual consumes high doses of alcoholic drinks, the ethanol and the brain get along and start playing tricks with the rest of our body.
According to a study published in the scientific journal Alcohol, ethanol lowers the core body temperature. One of the well-known effects of ethanol is skin vasodilation. It alters body thermoregulation by decreasing the body temperature through sweating and skin vasodilation. Administration of ethanol disrupts thermoregulation and results in the development of hyperthermia or hypothermia. Another similar paper has found that alcohols disconnect physiological responses and thermal sensation. The team concluded that alcoholic drinks might be beneficial in sleeping comfortably but, could be risky in hazardous situations due to the dysfunctionality in the physical response.
