IIT Bhilai Asks Candidates with Non-IT Background to Write PHP and HTML Codes

IIT Bhilai

Recently, in a recruitment process for a technical position, one of the top institutes in India, IIT Bhilai, asks Mechanical and Chemical engineers and microbiologists to write PHP and HTML codes. These come after the institute called candidates from different backgrounds, including Chemical, Mechanical, electrical, and Civil engineers, along with life sciences candidates for IT technical positions. About half of the participants raised their voice against the question paper and even refused to attend the exam. "How do they expect a microbiologist or civil engineer to code in PHP and HTML? I felt I wasted almost a week and an unprecedented amount of wealth and energy traveling to the venue. Without wasting any more time, I told them I am not interested in this position and left the spot without even attending the interview. Following which the institute again dropped a mail requesting to appear for the interview," writes one of the candidates.

Well, what do you think about it, calling candidates to participate in a recruitment process irrelevant to their field of expertise? Write us your views in the comment section below.
